I enjoy the subtle distinctions I find in nature─ the flower with a lop-sided petal or the slight irregularities in otherwise symmetrical forms. Just as a vine grows in relation to the object it clings to, my pieces’ unique distinctions develop from the initial thrown form.
My color palette comes from the natural world as well. I try to create colors similar to those found in flora and marine life, as well as rock formations. At the same time I add my own element of whimsy to create vibrant and unique color combinations.
It is my hope that the viewer would see the connection between the natural forms suggested in my work as well as my portrayal and perception of them. I hope to create a world that is energetic and colorful, while still retaining a subtle beauty and grace in each piece.
